About

Cocurals represents an innovative artistic synthesis that unites the rich heritage of Kerala’s classical mural painting (കേരളീയ ചുമർചിത്രകല) with the rustic, eco-friendly medium of carved coconut shells. By transforming organic coconut shell fragments into textured, three-dimensional canvasses, Cocurals breathes contemporary life into an artistic conventions while remaining deeply rooted in natural sustainability.

Materials & Artistic Process

Every Cocurals piece is built through a meticulous process balancing raw craftsmanship with classical precision:

· Medium Preparation: Mature coconut shells are selected, cut, sanded, and treated to form smoothed mosaic tiles or shaped sculptural panels.

· Classical Palette (പഞ്ചവർണ്ണങ്ങൾ): The artwork incorporates the traditional five-color spectrum—Red, Yellow, Green, Black, and White—faithfully adapting classical pigments into modern, durable mediums on shell surfaces.

· Surface Detailing: Line drawings and intricate embellishments are hand-painted onto the dark, textured shell grain, creating a striking visual contrast between glossy paint and earthy wood-like textures.
